About Tustin News

Tustin News is a local newsletter for people who live in Tustin, California. Old Town. The neighborhoods around it. The parts of town that don’t show up in a countywide story.

If you want Tustin first — not Orange County in general, and not national news with a local sticker on it — this is for you.

I’m Forrest Kelly. I write it.

The site is new. Right now it’s mostly a signup page. There isn’t a long archive of daily stories sitting here, and I won’t pretend there is. If you subscribe today, you’re early.

What “daily” means

The homepage says I’ll email daily updates on Tustin news and events. That’s the promise on the site today.

What I can stand behind is this: the email should be short and useful. What happened. Why it matters here. A meeting, a deadline, or a local event you might actually want.

If a day is quiet, I’d rather skip it than pad it. A daily habit only works if there’s something worth sending.

What I’ll cover

I plan to pay attention to:

  • City decisions that change how Tustin actually works
  • Schools, when the news affects families here
  • Local events worth knowing about — not every flyer
  • Neighborhood issues, roads, housing, and public safety, when there’s something solid
  • Business openings, closures, and changes you’ll notice on the street

I won’t treat a press release as a finished story. I won’t write like I was in the room if I wasn’t. I won’t chase gossip. I won’t invent a busy day.

This is not a lifestyle brand, and it isn’t a dumping ground for every agency email that lands in my inbox.

What I won’t do

I won’t recap Washington unless it shows up on a Tustin street, a Tustin school, or a Tustin bill. I won’t pick a side in a comment war. I won’t ask you to “join a community” when what I mean is “give me your email.”

People who have been here a while remember The Tustin News, the old weekly. It ran for decades and stopped in 2018. This is not that paper. I’m not picking up their archive, and I’m not pretending I am. Same city. New newsletter.

Who operates it

Tustin Media, Inc. operates this site. That’s the company named on the privacy page. Tustin News is the name you see in the browser tab.
